Is Your Credit Score Derived From Magic or Math?

When people decide they want to buy a home, one of the first things they ask is, “What is my credit score?”  Although a good question, for many it isn’t the right question. “What affects my credit score and how do I maximize it?” is probably a better question.  However, as you can imagine, the optimum time to ask this question is not when you are prepared to make an offer on a new home.  It is well in advance of that so you can optimize your score and take advantage of the many benefits of an excellent credit score.

So how do you get started?  A great place to start is watching a short video at http://admmoneysmart.com/Learn_to_Live.html.   Just click on the video and it will take you through the basics.  You will also find a plethora of information to the right of the video in the “Resources” section.  We realize it isn’t the most interesting read but we want to stress to everyone that understanding your credit will provide a lifetime of benefits.  Good luck!

We would also like to take this opportunity to recommend you save http://ADMmoneysmart.com to your favorites.  It’s a great website aimed at helping high school students become financially literate.  Although directed at teenagers and young adults, many of the videos and resources provided are applicable for all ages.  Take a look and please forward the link to individuals you think may benefit from the website.
