Help Us Spread Some Holiday Cheer!

The Holidays are a wonderful time to give thanks and appreciation to those around you and to give back to those in need. This year our offices have packed over 120 gallon-size Ziploc bags filled with hats, gloves, socks, a varieity of toiletries, snacks, and hand warmers to provide to the homeless.

We invite you to stop by our office in Urbandale to grab a few of these bags to keep in your car and help distribute throughout town.

Our location is 2753 99th St., Urbandale, IA 50322. All you need to do is keep a couple bags in your car and when you see someone in need, you can easily grab a bag and offer it to them. It’s incredibly simple and very fulfilling!

You are welcome to stop by unannounced between 9:00am and 5:00 pm during the week and grab a bag or two. If you prefer to call, just dial 515-252-7107 and let us know when you plan to stop by and we will make sure someone is available to help you!

We would also like to thank West Des Moines Dental Center, Adel Family Dentistry, Urbandale Fareway,  and Johnston Hilton Garden Inn for their generous donations.

Please visit MFLCares to check out additional opportunities to support great local causes.

MFLCares about Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa

Midwest Family Lending has chosen to support Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa  in the month of December and we encourage you to as well.

Compassion Fund

Caring for a critically ill child is difficult; mentally, emotionally and financially. The Compassion Fund allows front line social workers to identify needs and distribute funds immediately, providing much needed relief for families.

Variety partners with Iowa hospitals to help critically ill children and their families by providing comfort, care and fulfilling immediate needs such as:

A gas card for frequent travel to appointments
Meals for a parent who spends weeks at the hospital
Payment of immediate bills such as phone, heat or electricity
A birthday cake for a child who will spend their special day in a hospital bed
Care for siblings when parents need to stay with their ill child

Orchard Place is the oldest locally-based charity in Des Moines with its foundation as the cities first orphanage in 1886. MFLCares goes over the edge with Special Olympics of Iowa

In 1998 I donated $35 to Special Olympics of Iowa. It was a start and this organization has held a special place in my heart ever since. This year Midwest Family Lending, where I am proud to work, made a donation of $1600 to SOIA! Because of this donation, I was asked if I’d like to “Go Over the Edge” (rappel down a 345 foot building) and I absolutely did! Everyone should have the opportunity for the same experience. Not rappelling down the building, but experiencing the unconditional love shown by the athletes at the bottom. The 3 girls in the picture all compete because people are willing to support Special Olympics Iowa. The opportunity to help fund athletes with mental and physical disabilities so they can simply compete and be proud of their accomplishments is humbling. These athletes are a wonderful examples of what sports and life should be about.

MFLCares about The Bryce’s Warriors Foundation

Midwest Family Lending has chosen to support The Bryce’s Warriors Foundation in the month of September and we encourage you to as well.

Please click the warrior below to check out Bryce’s story. You are invited to play in the 5th Annual Bryce Draisey Memorial golf tournament. This tournament is to raise funds for Bryce’s Warriors, Inc. The foundation will be donating money to the Bryce Draisey Memorial Dollars for Scholars scholarship fund, families of children waiting for and who have had heart transplants, Children’s Miracle Network, and Iowa Donor Network. Scholarships go to students in the SE Polk School District where Bryce was a student. While Bryce lived in and out of the hospital for three years, Children’s Miracle Network provided him with daily distractions which would not be possible without continued fundraising. Iowa Donor Network found the heart that he received via transplant that gave us an extra two years with our son that we would not have otherwise had. We look forward to seeing you all there and thank you for helping to keep Bryce’s memory alive.
